Free Download Cognos10 &Cognos8.4 Developer Editions

As a Christmas gift I have thought of giving a solution to have cognos in your system for developing reports and master the cognos tool. As everybody knows, Cognos is a proprietary software of IBM and is to be bought from them. Well, This is not exactly a new discovery, but just letting people now that we can get cognos from IBM's site.

What's the catch?
IBM avails an option for the users that are logged in to IBM website to have a trial version for practice and this trial version is for 30 days and i think, it is more than enough to learn and master it. If you want to have it for more than 30 days, simple go register with another mail id. :)



How to download Cognos10 or Cognos8.4 developer edition from IBM site?
The following is the step by step tutorial to download cognos developer edition.
Steps:

1. Click on the link Download from this page.
2. You will be redirected to a page, as seen below, Click on the button for download.

3. Now you will be redirected to a page where it shows the following option to register or sign in. Click on either Register option or Get an IBM ID as shown.
   
   
   
   
   
   Note: You can register with any id as you like and you will be asked to fill a form which needs information. You dot have to fill in original data. :)
4. After getting the id, you will have an option to download either Cognos 8.4 or Cognos 10.1.0. Choose any one and proceed further.
5. You now get an option to download directly through http or Download direct java browser. If you have any Download Manager installed in your system, you can directly go for http. It helps you resuming the download as well. Recommended since the installation package is huge.

6. That's it you can now install the cognos package and enjoy the free cognos trial package for 30 days before you can uninstall and install again for 30 days more.
