How to create a pie chart in Cognos Report Studio - Tutorial-3b

There are many different varieties of Chart reports available in Cognos. Out of them, the mostly used charts are column charts, pie charts, line charts and bar charts. In the previous tutorial on how to create a column chart, we have already learnt about column chart and applied some of the basic formatting options to it. 

Now, in this tutorial, We are going to create the most widely used chart, PIE CHART. Just like the column chart chart pie chart also have the same options. In the below tutorial, i have just mentioned the basic creation of the pie chart. you can also look for features of these charts and how to apply various formatting options in previous tutorial.

Steps to create a pie chart in Cognos report:
1. Go to the cognos connection and launch the cognos report studio that is present in the top right corner of the window.

2. Now a window appears for you asking you to choose the source package. here we selected "Go Sales Package".
3. Now the window is filled with blank report and a pop window prompts you to select the report type. You can choose "chart report" as your report type here.
 Note: If you pass this step, you can still add a chart object by dragging and dropping chart icon from the toolbox. 
4. After adding the chart report type. You have to select the chart type by click on the pie,donut in chart group pane and pie in chart type pane. (you can select any type you want.)

5. Now drag and drop the data items carefully to the X-axis, Y-axis and Measures.
