Like any other object, you can create a repeater by dragging and dropping from the insertable objects pane.

Steps to create a repeater in Cognos8 Report Studio:
1. Open the Cognos report studio and click on the "go data warehouse" package or "go sales package" and open a blank report.
2. Now go to the insertable objects pane and add the repeater from it by double clicking it or dragging and dropping it.
3. Since we have added a repeater template now from insertable objects pane, we have to add data items or report expressions to it just like the list or crosstab report.
4. If you know how to create a crosstab or list report, you can go to the next step or else you can refer my previous posts on creating a list report in report studio and create a crosstab in cognos8 tutorials.
5. Since you have come to this step, i think you have gone through the creation of the list reports and i assume that you are aware of creating the repeater the similar way.
6. So after adding the repeater and dropping the data items in it, you can now test the repeater by cliking on the run option available there.
7. Now, the repeater is ready and if you like to customize it, you can go through the repeater customizations and do as mentioned in customizations of reports post. Please go through that.
Alternative method to create a repeater:
You can also create a repeater in an alternative method by converting the list report into repeater directly.
To convert a list report follow the steps here:
1. Go to the list report that is already present in there and click on it.
2. Now go to the file menu toolbar and select the strctute menu.
3. Click on "Convert list to repeater" option available in the drag and drop submenu.
