How do you create a bar chart in cognos?
Its quiet simple and same as that of column chart. You can access how to create a column chart here. Also you can access various cognos charts information here.
Here is the step by step process on how to create a bar chart in Cognos 8 Report Studio:
- Go to cognos report studio and select any package from the available packages. If you want this in detail as well you can refer how to create a list report in my tutorial-1 which has all the information basics.
- After selecting the package you can start creating a report with bar chart. It can be an individual bar chart in the report or a combination of bar chart and other report objects.
- Once you open the cognos report studio window, you will get a pop-up window, which looks like the one below.Select chart from that window.
- Now choose any one type of bar chart to proceed further and the report now looks like this.
- Just drag and drop the data items you require in the fields for x-axis, y-axis and a series. In this example, we have taken Revenue on the x-axis, Product-name on the series and an order method on the y-axis.
- Now on the Axis titles, double click and enter some suitable value for your data items, This is what seen exactly on the report after it is run. In this case, it is revenue (or income)
- Now, save the report and run, it looks like below.
That's it, you are done with the report and your bar chart is prepared.
Note: You can also use bar chart in reports along with the list report and you can drill through the bar chart and arive at some list report values as well. You can always customize it as you like.
