Cognos 10 is released and i think all of you might have already started practicing on the 30 day trial version i have posted in previous posts. If you haven't get any trail version downloaded, you can go here and follow the steps. Asuming you have got your trail version already, lets start practicing some tutorials.
You can go through some of the cognos tutorials in this site or you can start with the Videos provided by IBM. So you might face some challenges in accessing cognos 10. Recently some of the people reported that there is an error popping up while accessing the cognos 10.
"This how-to video could not be accessed.
A network policy or firewall could be blocking your access to the public IBM Web site that hosts the how-to videos."
You can open the port of Cognos Application Firewall for IBM website and add an exception. which helps in letting you watch the videos.
Below is the step by step procedure to add exception to Cognos Application Firewall.
To enabe Application Firewall in Cognos follow the below steps:
1. Go to dispatcher computer and start IBM Cognos Configuration
2. Sop the COGNOS10 service for a while.
3.Under Explorer->Security->IBM Cognos Application Firewall.
4. Advanced->settings
5. Add exception
6. Add *.ibm.com as a valid domain
Our Goal is to make the IBM site accessible from Cognos application. So once we added the above domain to cognos applications, We can view the videos.
This occurs as error by default because of the enhanced security of cognos which is made in order to protect the Unauthorized access to Cognos10 application Interface. So if you would like to access any internet domain from Cognos Interface you have to add an exception the same way. Hope it helps.
