Cognos Report Net vs Cognos8 - Features and differences

Cognos is the most widely used reporting tool in the Data Warehousing department of any company. Though it is developed by an autonomous body once upon a time, it is being developed by IBM after the later took over. From then, IBM started doing many changes to it and the latest release of it is COGNOS8.

Features of Cognos8 to that of the CRN:

Cognos8 is a powerful reporting tool which is more efficient and faster to that of its predecessor.
Cognos8 is a business intelligence tool which is a mixture of the ideas of cognos report net and impromptu.
Cognos8 has a dimensional type of architecutre which is missing in CRN.
Cognos8 is a combined package of many tools like Report Studio, Analysis Studio, Query Studio, Event Studio.
Cognos8 is just not a Report studio unlike Cognos Report Net.
Cognos8 has an extra prompt called as Tree Prompt.
Cognos8 has Render Variable which helps in rendering functions.

Differences:

Cognos Report Net has Cubes Concept which is missing in Cognos8.
In Cognos Report Net, tabular level of queries seperately exist, which is removed in Cognos8.
Cognos8 has Aggregate and rollup aggregate functions which alter the report layout if not applied properly. Some times data may be doubled or tripled due to the improper usage of these 2 options.
